Certification Reaffirms the Leading Provider of Partner Opportunity Management Solutions’ Commitment to Data Privacy
SAN MATEO, Calif. - March 21, 2007 - BLUEROADS, the leading provider of Partner Opportunity Management (POM) solutions for medium to large enterprises, received the prestigious European Union (EU) Safe Harbor Privacy Seal under guidance of TRUSTe and certification with US Department of Commerce (DOC). The certification signifies that BLUEROADS’ customers are assured compliance with the EU’s rigorous standards for privacy protection and are assured an effective recourse for resolution of privacy complaints and disputes.
The EU’s Directive on Data Protection prohibits the transfer of personal data to non-EU nations that do not meet the European "adequacy" standard for privacy protection. As a result the US DOC and the EU developed a "safe harbor" framework that permits US organizations to comply with the directive. TRUSTe’s EU Safe Harbor Privacy Seal ensures that all of BLUEROADS’ US-based customers receive proper privacy protection in accordance with the regulation.
"Respect for global laws that regulate online privacy is both vitally important and sometimes difficult to manage. As more and more commerce and information processing occurs across the Internet, US companies instantly become global companies and have the very real need for compliance with the numerous laws that regulate personal privacy across global markets," said Damon Greer, of the US DOC’s Office of Technology and E-Commerce. "By certifying with Safe Harbor, BLUEROADS is providing its customers a degree of confidence that EU citizens' personal information is safeguarded."
TRUSTe’s seven privacy principles are all modeled on the EU's data protections directive's provisions and all 27 EU member states recognize BLUEROADS’ Safe Harbor certification.
"The Safe Harbor certification is proof of BLUEROADS’ global orientation and our commitment to our customers and their partner users," said Christine Ciandrini, Vice President of Operations of BLUEROADS Corporation. "This certification is evidence that as a global company BLUEROADS recognizes the importance of compliance with international legal governance frameworks and shows that we take customer data protection seriously."
More than 33% of BLUEROADS’ customers have greater than $1 billion in annual revenue and 50% have annual revenue over $200 million. The EU is an important market for BLUEROADS, since its customers and their partners have a presence in 25 of the EU’s 27 nations.
"Our company is a global one, so our partner channels and end customers reflect Hitachi’s global reach," said Judy Christensen, Senior Manager of Marketing Planning and Operations of Hitachi Data Systems. "BLUEROADS" TRUSTe certification is an important step for us in ensuring that we are also respecting the global privacy protection laws and ensuring good corporate citizenship.”
In order to receive these credentials, BLUEROADS underwent a comprehensive independent audit. By certifying with TRUSTe, BLUEROADS joins a host of other well-respected companies that have received the privacy seal including Adobe Systems, Apple Computer, Avaya, IBM, Microsoft, Monster, Oracle and Sybase.
